Lisa Ikemoto is on faculty at the School of Law at UC Davis. Her research focuses on emerging biotechnologies, health care disparities, and reproductive rights and health, with an eye toward social justice concerns. She uses critical race and feminist theories and draws from insights provided by bioethics and science and technology studies. She examines how ideologies shape technology development, use, and health care delivery. Current projects include the formation of markets in human cells and tissues, including gametes and ex vivo embryos; the effects of global surrogacy markets on women’s status and health; social implications of genetic testing, selection, and genomic modification; effects of the abortion wars on communities of color; and the political life of informed consent.
